History
The Sangguniang Bayan of Quezon, Bukidnon passed Resolution No. 10th SB 2008 – 133 dated July 10 , 2008 forming the Quezon Water District (QWD). The decision to form the QWD was made after a public hearing was held on January 25, 2005 at the Municipal Cultural Center, Quezon, Bukidnon by the Sangguniang Bayan of Quezon, Bukidnon. In the said public hearing the concensus of the people was in favour of forming the QWD covering areas of the entire territorial jurisdiction of the Municipality.
The present water system is operational and maintained by the LGU. It needs major improvement, i.e. additional water sources and correction of existing system deficiencies. Water systems that will be turned over to the QWD are situated at Barangays Poblacion, San Jose, Minsalirac and Libertad. A loan from LWUA will finance the improvement of the existing system as required in a Program of Work to be prepared by the LWUA.
Its present revenue is estimated to take care of the operating expenses. Although the LGU did not provide a subsidy, it has committed to assist QWD to operate and maintain the said waterworks or until such a time as the water district shall have been found self-sufficient by LWUA.
The resolution after evaluation made was found to conform to the requirements of Section 6 and the policy objectives in Section 2 of PD 198, as amended.
